GOATOTE’S educational division is working with St Paul Public Schools to eliminate plastic bags used for their breakfast in the classroom program.
In 2018 SPPS district used over 4 million single use plastic bags. Most of these bags are distributed to students for the Breakfast in the Classroom Program. This program provides breakfast to all students and provides them time in the morning to enjoy a nutritious breakfast.
The students collect their breakfast items in a single use plastic bag when they arrive and head to the classroom or their designated breakfast area.
Now GOATOTE is providing small size reusable bags for student to use. When breakfast is over students drop their GOATOTE bags in designated return bins. GOATOTE washes and disinfects the bags before returning them to the schools for reuse.
This initiative not only teaches students the fundamentals of reuse from an early age, but it set to eliminate over 24 tons of single use plastic waste per year! And that’s only 1 school district.
